Bridges Rib ride tour

You’ll set off from Beaumaris Pier, cruising along the Menai Strait and into Port Penrhyn (depending on tides), out past Bangor Pier (Wales’s longest at 1500 feet) before carrying on along the shoreline. You’ll see some truly magnificent buildings including Plas Newydd and those of Millionaire’s Row which all have their own rich histories. Completed in 1826, the Menai Bridge truly was a triumph of civil engineering and we think it can only be fully appreciated from below by boat! Marvel at its enormity as you pass underneath it and imagine sailing ships navigating the treacherous waters to pass underneath it’s arches in times gone by. Your experienced skipper will then navigate the Swellies. Watch out for shipwrecks and stranded boats many a seafarer has run into trouble in the strong currents which create a series of whirlpools in the surrounding waters! You’ll pass by a couple of islands home to several species of heron which can often be seen feeding in the waters surrounding them before continuing down the Strait towards Britannia Bridge. You’ll head under Robert Stevenson’s Britannia Bridge, spotting the two lions as you go before saluting the hidden statue of Lord Nelson. You’ll then continue down to Plas Newydd, the ancestral home of the Marques of Anglesey before making your way back to Beaumaris Pier. The way back will take your breath away! Experience twists, turns and tumbles on the Menai Strait when your skipper shows you the full power of our ribs. Fascinating, amazing, memorable. A boat trip not to be missed! £35 per person.
