The Boat The course will take place on a Seamaster 813 shaft drive river motor cruiser About the course This course is for anyone wanting to cruise the UKs inland waterways or Europe’s extensive network of lakes, rivers and canals. It deals with specifically with the requirements of the inland boater, whether they are on a narrow boat or a motor cruiser. It assumes no prior knowledge and is ideal for a first timer, yet an experienced boater will learn plenty of tricks of the trade and tips to make boating safer and more enjoyable. Course Structure The course will start at 0930, we can meet in the classroom and complete all the necessary paper work before walking to the boat to start the course on day one, we will finish at about 1600 and on day two we shall meet at 0930 and finish at 1600. I enclose a break down of the course for your perusal prior to our meeting for your information. Course content Safety, helmsmanship, locks and tunnels, collision avoidance and an introduction to engine maintenance. Ability after the course To be able to helm a vessel safely on inland waters. Minimum age 18 years. Equipment required You will need to bring appropriate foot wear, non slip non marking soles, boots or trainers, boat shoes or boots are perfect. Layers of clothing so as to be able to adjust to the changing temperatures and waterproof top and trousers, gloves may be required and a hat for cold or sun. Do not forget any personal items you might require including sun screen. We will provide tea and coffee and biscuits and soup and a selection of Sandwiches for lunch.

You can also see a map and directions on our web site. The marina has a private road leading to a gated entrance, the class room is on the first floor accessed by wide metal stairs. You shouldn’t miss our banner. The marina has toilets and showers on site. If you have difficulty climbing approximately ten steps please advise me immediately.
